I’m looking for a decent digital camera to use primarily for shooting flower arrangements against white backgrounds. Quality and focus are the major concerns here as most of the work will be closeup/macro. A good zoom lens and SLR are a plus for general purpose shooting. What camera(s) would you recommend in the under $600 price range?

I am a graphic design student who is interested in photography – specifically pin-up/fashion photography- and would like to use the shots for my art work. The only problem is that Graphic Design school is expensive enough, so I plan on teaching my self the basics in digital photography……so I would like some recommendations on a starter digital camera that isnt too expensive! I have a simple Kodak Easy Share 3.1 camera….im assuming it wont make the cut! Although I use photoshop to manipulate photo’s i take – I figure I would still need a better camera to take better shots…. any recommendations/ideas on cameras, equipment, how to get started would help and be greatly appreciated.

I have found that it is pretty difficult to take great quality photos with a digital camera. I think a good 35mm camera takes incredible pictures, and a digital just takes ‘good’ photos. Whattaya think? Am I just doing something wrong? (PS.. I’m not a professional photographer, and don’t even know how to use a 35mm…. I’m just referring to pictures I have seen, not taken, with a ‘good ole fashioned manual camera’ ! )

I have a digital camera and its been acting weird. I won’t let you take pictures because it says on the bottom right corner that its on lock. I looked through the manual and I asked a bunch of people but they don’t know how to get it off lock. Anyone know?

I am looking to purhcase a digital camera so I can specfically take self portraits. I know many cameras offer timers but my photos will be heavily posed and such so I need to have the maximum amount of control from a distance.

I will not be purchasing a $500 camera so please keep a low budget in mind or at least bracket the information like under $200 or under $300 so I can understand the price points and what the additional price has to offer. I am expecting a camera at no less than 5 mp but at such a low budget I am not expecting a whole lot else….

The photos will range from studio photos, head shots, candids and such.

Is a digital SLR the only way to go or can this be done with a cheap digital point and shoot? Are there any with remote options?

If you have any technical tips for self portraiture please give them.
I am looking for specific makes and models of cameras that have remote capabilitiy.

10 seconds is not enough time- I need to have actual control of when teh photo is taken- not just a timing mechanism.

I have already looked around to find information about good self portraiture cameras but all the sights list cameras with too simplisitc timers and don’t give any useful information.

I have a pentax SLR film camera so I already know how to run manual settings. I am specifically looking for digital cameras that can be used from a distance.

I’m looking to buy a digital camera with at least 12MP, no less. I’ve been looking at the Kodak EasyShare V1233 and the Nikon Coolpix P5100. The kodak seems to be getting a lot of bad reviews on Google sites. What is your opinion?
no, i want my pictures to be crystal clear.
